College Affordability Town Hall Forum

A town hall forum on college affordability with U.S. Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education Eduardo Ochoa and other special speakers will be held from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, at the Fossil Ridge High School Round House, 5400 Ziegler Road.

The forum will address federal student aid available to you and offer information on how to keep college costs down and pay off  student loans after graduation. The forum will also give you an opportunity to share your ideas with the Department of Education about making college more affordable and accessible.

No School K-8 Students

Last Day of School

Schools to Dismiss Early on the Last Day of School June 1

All PSD schools will dismiss students early on the last day of school, Friday, June 1.

Elementary (including full-day kindergarten), middle and high schools will dismiss students 3 ½ hours earlier than the normal scheduled time. No lunch will be served.

Half-day kindergarten will NOT be in session on June 1.

All other PSD schools or programs will also dismiss 3 ½ hours earlier than the normal scheduled time.

Please contact your child’s school for specific dismissal times that day.

FRHS, RMHS, FCHS Graduations

The following graduation ceremonies will be held on Saturday, May 26, at Moby Arena on the campus of Colorado State University:

  • Fossil Ridge High School – 8 a.m., Saturday, May 26 (Moby doors open at 7 a.m.)

  • Rocky Mountain High School – 1 p.m., Saturday, May 26 (Moby doors open at noon)

  • Fort Collins High School – 5:30 p.m., Saturday, May 26 (Moby doors open at 4:30 p.m.)

GED Graduation

Sixteen students are scheduled to graduate from Poudre High School’s General Education Development program at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, at the PHS Commons area, 201 Impala Drive. 

George Osborne, PHS principal, will address the graduates. PSD Superintendent Dr. Jerry Wilson, several school board members and other PSD administrators will attend the ceremony. Each graduate will have an opportunity to speak to the audience.

During the 2011-12 school year, 54 students, ranging from 16 to 59 years old, were enrolled in the PHS GED program.

Masonic Schools Recognition Night

Collins Lodge #19 AF&AM and Fidelity Lodge #192 AF&AM continue a decades-long tradition in recognizing outstanding PSD students, teachers, and programs at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, at the Masonic Temple, 225 W. Oak St. The public is welcome to attend this free event.

The Masonic Lodges will honor 52 students from 5th, 8th, and 12th grades who have been nominated by their teachers for their traits of citizenship, leadership, scholarship, and general positive character that distinguish them as outstanding.

Food Advisory Panel Meeting

The Food Advisory Panel will meet at 9 a.m., Tuesday, April 24, in the conference room at the Child Nutrition Department, located in the PSD warehouse facility off Timberline Rd.

The Food Advisory Panel, a panel of local experts, has been created to advise the PSD Child Nutrition department with regard to a program evaluation and improvements.

LEAD 1.0 Celebration

Staff members from the City of Fort Collins, Larimer County and Poudre School District will present their findings on how the three organizations could save money during their graduation from a leadership program on April 27.

A celebration for the 24 selected staff members who participated in the year-long LEAD 1.0 program will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m,  Friday, April 27, in the Hearing Room on the first floor of the Larimer County offices, 200 W. Oak.

Designs and Images Art Show

The PSD Designs and Images art show is in full swing at Foothills Fashion Mall.  Student artwork from all PSD students is on display April 17-29.

A reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 23, at the mall.
