Summer School

Elementary Summer School 2009 (Literacy and Math)

Poudre School District's Elementary Summer School is designed for students who need additional academic support in reading and math. Students currently in Kindergarten through Grade 6 may enroll in small classes to support and/or maintain their reading and math skills. Transportation is provided, and reduced tuition is available for qualifying students.

 

Dates and times: June 8 - July 2, 2009, Monday through Friday, a.m. only

 

Locations:

(K-3) Irish Elementary, 515 Irish Drive, 7:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

(4-6) Bauder Elementary, 2345 W. Prospect Drive, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

(K-6) Zach Core Knowledge Elementary, 3715 Kechter Road, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

 

Tuition: $185 full tuition

               Scholarships available for students on Free (25) & Reduced Lunch ($50)

Secondary Summer School 2009

Secondary Summer School offers students a chance to take 1st-semester, 2nd-semester and year-long courses (including physical education). Also, Independent Study and Virtual High School are available with counselor approval.

Dates:  June 8 - July 2, 2009

 

Times:

Year-long Classes: 8:00 am - 3:50 pm

1st-Semester Classes: 8:00 am - 11:40 am

2nd-Semester Classes: 12:10 pm - 3:50 pm

Explore Enrichment! (Elementary)

Explore Enrichment is the place for students to challenge themselves, be creative and learn new things.

 

The two one-week sessions will be held June 8- 12 and June 15-19 at Laurel Elementary, 1000 E. Locust Court. Classes are designed for students who are motivated to discover something new, or explore a topic in which they already have an interest.  Students may sign up for just one week or both weeks, and choose their area of interest to uncover a new enthusiasm through Explore Enrichment. 

 

Primary classes (K-2) will be held mornings from 9 a.m. to noon, and Intermediate classes (3-6) will be held in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Grade levels are determined by the student’s current grade level, during the 2008-2009 school year.  Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

 

Tuition is $65 per week or $130 for two weeks.  Students who qualify for reduced lunch prices pay $35 per week or $70 for two weeks; students who qualify for free lunch prices pay $25 per week or $50 for two weeks.  Parents provide transportation.

Sign Up for Summer Music Program

Poudre School District's Summer Intrumental Music Program is free to current PSD fifth and sixth graders. The music program, taught primarily by PSD music teachers, is wonderful opportunity to learn an instrument before entering the middle school band or orchestra program.

Students try out an instrument, learn the basics and gain practice - preparing them for success in the instrumental music program and a lifetime of music enjoyment.

Classes for the summer music program will be held Mondays through Fridays, June 1 - July 10, for one hour each day. No classes will be held July 3. Concerts will be held the final week of class.. Students who miss a class due to vacation may arrange help sessions with their teachers.
