Suicide Prevention Training May 1 and 2

A QPR suicide prevention training will teach participants warning signs of suicide, intervention skills and referral resources in the community.

The 1 1/2 hour QPR (Question, Persuade and Refer) method training will teach participants the three-step QPR method. Participants will learn how to recognize at least three warning signs of suicide, how to ask someone about their potential suicide intent, how to listen and will be taught skills to assist a person at risk of suicide.  In addition, myths and facts related to suicide and suicide as a national and local public health concern will be covered.

The same training is offered on two different evenings and locations, which include:

  •  6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, at Wellington Middle School, 4001 Wilson Ave., in Wellington. Participants MUST preregister for the training by Friday, April 27.

  • 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, at Rocky Mountain High School, 1300 W. Swallow. Participants MUST pregister for the training by Monday, April 30.
