Poudre School District schools are seeking volunteers who have the time and skills to tutor students, score tests, do office work, offer enrichment activities, and read to students. PSD’s board of education needs a volunteer to serve on the auditing committee.

In addition, the following schools need volunteers:

Laurel Elementary needs volunteers to help 4th-grade students in literacy and math for 45 minutes a day Monday to Friday each week. Laurel also wants a volunteer for math enrichment activities each week.

Harris Bilingual Elementary needs several volunteers to read with students during the lunch hour, Monday to Friday.

Putnam Elementary School of Science teachers want for committed, motivated, enthusiastic CSU student volunteers to work with small groups of 2nd- and 4th-grade students in math, reading, writing, vocabulary, science, technology and handwriting. A volunteer is needed to organize math materials and folders for 3 classrooms.

Putnam also needs detail-oriented, artistic, and computer savvy people willing to correct papers, enter data, make copies, file, design bulletin boards, and perform other clerical tasks.

Johnson Elementary is looking for a volunteer coordinator to help coordinate volunteer activities.

Fort Collins High School’s psychologist is seeking volunteers who can help score reading Close Tests and enter data into Excel for a testing project. FCHS also needs tutors in all subject areas who can work with students an hour or two each week before or after school.

PSD’s Board of Education is seeking community members with financial experience to serve on the PSD Audit Committee for the balance of calendar year 2010, plus a 2-year term beginning January 1, 2011. The Audit Committee consists of 5 community members and 2 PSD BOE members, and assists the BOE in fulfilling its financial oversight responsibilities. Interested community members are asked to submit a letter of intent outlining pertinent qualifications by September 15, to dboileau@psdschools.org or Deb Boileau, PSD Accounting Department, Johannsen Support Services Center, 2407 LaPorte Avenue, Fort Collins, CO 80521. PSD employees and contractors or immediate family members are not eligible for the committee.
