New Share It! Database to Unite Businesses and Education to Enhance Student Learning

Recently, Poudre School District presented a new partnership database called Share It! to local businesses and community members. Share It! has one goal – to unite business, community, and education to enhance teaching and improve student learning.

Key business leaders attended one of two breakfast training sessions. During the training, leaders saw a demonstration of the new database, and laptops were available so they could register through Share It! Share It! offers a platform where three key groups can register to share expertise, experience, and resources to benefit students.

“We are excited to bring Share It! to our community and provide a resource that will streamline communication between the businesses and organizations, PSD staff, and individual parent or community volunteers to support student learning,” says Kris Cord, PSD partnership and volunteer coordinator.

When registering, Share It! visitors will be given the following options:

Business/Organization Offers – Businesses create an offer to provide internships, mentors, job shadowing, guest speakers/programs, training & externships for teachers; host field trips or donate supplies/equipment.
PSD Staff Requests – PSD staff create/search for opportunities to bring real-world, post-secondary and workforce ready skills to PSD students. Opportunities include business offers mentioned above.
Individual Parent or Community Volunteer – Volunteers register to share their time, talent, and expertise with students and staff. Registered volunteers can continue using our system by logging in as a returning user and editing their profile to be associated with a business.

All members registering with Share It! will initiate the background check process (except for PSD staff, they already have a background check on file). After the background check is cleared, members will be given a log-in and password and can then create offers, make requests, or sign up to volunteer.

“PSD has long-standing relationships with many businesses, organizations and volunteers,” says Kathy Hanson, PSD career and technical education coordinator. “We rely on the support of these community members to help enhance the education of PSD students and prepare them for post-secondary life. Share It! is a tool that will help us simplify the communication, collaboration and interaction between PSD and the community while providing easy access to information and resources.”

Visit the Share It! website starting September 15, to register, create an offer or volunteer in schools. If you are a PSD staff member, you can create requests or search for offers posted by businesses.

Share It! was made possible by a grant from the Bohemian Foundation. For more information or to learn more about Share It! contact the PSD Partnership and Volunteer Center at 970-490-3208 or email ShareIt@psdschools.org.
