School Of Choice Survey Results Show Majority of PSD Community is Pleased with Current Policy

Results of a recent survey by Poudre School District about its current School of Choice Policy indicate that a majority of survey participants agree with the current policy. The survey was sent to more than 35,000 individual email accounts and was open during the month of May.

The results show that 75.2% of respondents feel the current policy meets their needs and 63.8% do not feel that students whose parents are employed by PSD should have priority in choosing any PSD school.

The survey was created after several PSD staff groups raised the issue of the order of priority for children of staff members in the choice policy. PSD administration wanted to gather community feedback regarding the current policy to see if changes were necessary.

Approximately 2,000 parents, staff and community members responded with the majority coming from parents who live within PSD boundaries. Approximately 11% of respondents live outside the district.

Of the people who participated, 51.3% have a student that “choices” into a PSD school.

A quantitative summary of the survey can be found on the PSD website.
