PSD Schools Welcome 6th- and 9th-Graders; Early Start Helps Students Transition

About 2,000 6th-graders and 2,150 9th-graders began school on Aug. 20, one day earlier than other Poudre School District students. The early start gave students a chance to get to know their class schedule and new surroundings without the hustle and bustle of other students around.1992 A FCHS junior leads an activity with 9th-graders.

Students attended special assemblies, classes and met their teachers. At many of the schools, selected upperclassmen served as leaders and mentors, welcoming the newcomers and giving them tours of the schools, as well as facilitating fun activities.

The early start is also one of PSD’s efforts to help students successfully transition into their new schools, one of the district's four learning goals.

All students will attend school on Tuesday, Aug. 21!
