Currently in Poudre School District, there are only 9 educators who have or in the process of getting an endorsement or master's in Gifted Education. One of our district's gifted program goals is to increase this number of highly qualified personnel, and thanks to our amazing local universities, this is possible for many more educators now! Regis University and the University of Northern Colorado now offer some very convenient options for this type of degree/endorsement program.
Email Mary Nichols (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions about the following programs.
Regis has a campus located IN FORT COLLINS (near Prospect and I-25). This program offers options for a certificate (12 hours of graduate credit), an endorsement only (24 hours of graduate credit) or an M.Ed. in Gifted Education. See the flyer for more details!
If there are EIGHT students registered for Fall 2011, Regis will offer a Fort Collins Cohort!
If you are interested in learning more about Regis' offerings, attend an information night and have your application fee waived! Click on the link below for more information about these events.
Regis offers a discount to certified educators.
UNC has a long history of offering higher education programs for educators wishing to get a master's or endorsement in Gifted Education. Students have the option of a certificate, an endorsement only, or an M.A. in Gifted Education. The program is a hybrid (both face-to-face and online), and students meet 4 times/semester at the UNC Centerra Campus in Loveland (very close to I-25).
For more information about the UNC Gifted Education Program, please see attached flyer.
See below for information about the difference between a CERTIFICATE, ENDORSEMENT, and MASTER'S.
A CERTIFICATE through a University is not endorsed through Colorado Department of Education (it does not meet the credit requirements), however, it does show that you have focused higher education in an area. The "certificate" demonstrates to an employer that you have foundational knowledge in Gifted Education. It is usually the first 12 credits (4 classes) in a master's program

Both of the above MASTER'S program will also provide you with the ability to get an ENDORSEMENT.
