
Health Services
Poudre School District health services department is comprised of 9 nurses at the elementary, junior high, and senior high levels as well as 3 nurses at the early childhood level. (See Nurse's Schedule ). Each elementary school employs a health technician to assist the school nurse and other personnel in fulfilling the objectives of the school health program. (See Health Technician job description here (91 KB) ) All health services are provided according to Colorado Department of Education guidelines and are directed by the Poudre School District Board of Education. The student health program supplements the efforts and guidance of parents/guardians to bring about awareness on the part of the students of regular health care. Health records are maintained by school sites and are kept in the student's cumulative and/or health folder.
As required by law, vision and hearing of all students in kindergarten, first, second, third, fifth, seventh, and ninth grades, or of all students in comparable age groups referred for testing, are tested during the school year. Special attention is also given to, communicable diseases, and the health needs of special needs students are monitored.

Poudre School District has a Health Advisory Committee composed of licensed representatives of the medical, dental, and public health communities to assist the district with any health-related questions that the school district might wish to place before it. The committee meets on a regular basis throughout the school year.
