Exciting Art Happenings at Beattie
Beattie Artists Make a Difference with Original Works Fundraiser!
We introduced this program last year and had great success. The Original Works program is a fundraiser that reproduces children’s art work to create fun products to cherish as keepsakes or to give as gifts. All the profits raised by the OW program will be used to pay for the Evening for Art Events and a portion will be donated to an organization in honor of International Peace Day in our community. The Original Works fundraiser has many benefits; it celebrates children’s art, helps build self esteem, raises funds for our art shows and it empowers students to realize that they can make a positive impact in their school and community.
All students should have brought home an Original Works packet including their art work last week. The deadline for returning your orders will be on Friday the 23rd. Please make sure your student’s art work, order form and payment is included in your packet. Return packets to your classroom teachers. This is an optional fundraiser and if you decide not to participate you can keep the art work. If you do participate we thank you for supporting the arts at Beattie! All products will be ready in plenty of time for the holidays.
The BRAINY Project-BRinging Arts INtegration to Youth
BRAINY is a collaborative effort between key CSU personnel in the School of the Arts including professors in dance, music, theatre, art education and the staff of the University Art Museum. During the BRAINY visit students will rotate through four interactive activities highlighting each of the arts disciplines. Students will receive lunch provided by McAllister’s Deli on the day of the trip. The goal of the BRAINY project is to introduce these students to enriching arts opportunities in a university setting. The BRAINY interactive activities are designed to compliment model content standards in art, music, social studies, geography and math. Numerous studies show that providing integrated arts experiences can students in powerful learning experiences throughout the curriculum and can increase self-esteem and success in school. In addition, the program is designed to introduce students to post-secondary educational opportunities through the campus visit.
CSU believes that when children are exposed to the arts with all the endless possibilities, they bloom!
Mesa Verde students are participating in this wonderful program on Friday Oct. 23rd. Stay tuned for the highlights!
