There is so much to talk about….
Your children are moving and I couldn’t be more proud of them. Our wellness programs are alive and well at Beattie and all students now have many opportunities to be active.
Every student participated in a Halloween Obstacle course where they climbed, crawled, pushed objects and spun their way through the activities.
All students participated in the Turkey Trot. Last year only our 5th and 6th grade students ran the course and since all of these students have moved on to other schools, every student who did the Turkey Trot this year was new to the event.
Our K, 1st and 2nd grade students walked, ran and skipped the 5/8th of a mile looparound the school. You should have seen their faces!! Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students predicted a finish time and the winners were those whose predictions were closest to their actual finish time. The students with the closest estimatedtime are; Zoe Gillen in Silverton, MaKenzie Heck and Tameara Wedderburn tied from Mesa Verde, and Cole Dixon in Long’s Peak.
Congratulations everyone!
Congratulations to the entire school – you all did great job!
In December, our athletes will complete an event called the
“Frozen Five” where they will spend 5 minutes at each of
six different stations. Don’t worry; it will only be frozen outside,
not inside where we will be!
Every Monday, while the nice weather holds, students are invited to run with me after school in the “get-up-and-go” running club. This program has been going on for years and the participant’s miles add up for their entire time here at Beattie. This week two students reached their 200 mile milestones: MaKenzie Heck and Jack Stockton. Great job!
Every Wednesday students have two extra opportunities to be active. In the morning I am counting students who walk and wheel to school, and at lunch time Mrs. Codd, Mrs. Fleming, and I walk with students during their lunch recess. Our goal for the Lunch Laps Club was to reach an accumulated total of 1000 laps by April. It is only November and we already have completed 725 laps! We will be smashing that goal at this rate!
I would like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers that helped during the
Turkey Trot.
We could not have had such a successful day without you!!
“Keep moving Beattie students. I am so proud of you!”
