2007 SAT Scores Increase

PSD Students Again Exceed State and Nation on SAT Exams

Poudre School District’s 2007 graduates continue to exceed the state and national averages on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) college entrance exam, according to recently released SAT results.

In addition, PSD’s 2007 SAT scores increased in all three areas from 2006 district scores.

“These scores are very positive,” said Kay Uchiyama, Ph.D., PSD Assessment Coordinator. “In some cases, the scores increased significantly. A 15-point increase is a huge increase.”

2007 SAT results include:

  • PSD students’ reading score of 585 increased 16 points from last year’s score and is above the state score of 560 and national score of 502.
  • PSD students’ math score of 587 increased 15 points from last year’s score and exceeds the state score of 565 and national score of 515.
  • PSD students’ writing score of 568 increased 16 points from last year’s score and is above the state score of 549 and national score of 494.

The SAT is a college entrance exam voluntarily taken by college-bound students. Most universities accept either the SAT or American College Test (ACT) from students applying for admission. PSD has consistently surpassed the state and nation on SAT tests for several years. This year PSD also scored 9 points more than the SAT results from five years ago.
