Mrs. Morris Rides the Tour De Cure

Tour De Cure is a bikeriding fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association. Says first grade teacher, Mrs. Jen Morris: “Since I’m diabetic, I ride every year, but this year I also did it for my diabetic student, Maria Novoa.” The riders who are diabetic wear special red jerseys and are called “Red Riders”, and everyone cheers for the red riders when they go by. This year there were 2100 cyclists all together who raised $750,000 for diabetes research. “Last year I was a top individual fundraiser and raised $2,500, but this year I only raised about $250. There are several different routes you can ride ranging from 12, 25 and 50 mile loops, up to 100 miles (riders go from Longmont up to Estes and back). There are Friends & Family teams, corporate teams, and club/organization teams. I rode with my sister and my 6 year old nephew.”
Great Effort, Mrs. Morris!
