
FIRST LEGO League Robotics EventPHS to Host LEGO League Robotics Challenge
Poudre High School will host the Foundation for the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) LEGO League's 2009 Smart Move Robotics Challenge from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, at the school, 201 Impala Drive.
Students Challenged to Solve Transportaion Problems
Forty-eight teams representing elementary schools and junior high schools from Poudre School District and area clubs will compete in the event. This year’s theme focuses on transportation, challenges students to investigate transportation issues in their communities and develop creative solutions to solve transportation problems. The opening ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m., lunch is at 11:30, and awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m.
Competing teams who have designed, built, and programmed robots using the LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention System will compete and test their robots to see if they are capable of accomplishing challenge objectives. Teams will be recognized for teamwork, programming, problem solving, strategy, project management, creativity, persistence and design concept.
Championship Event Information
Winning teams will go on to compete at the Colorado Championship event, Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Auraria Event Center, Metropolitan State College of Denver located on Speer Blvd. in Denver.
