Rotary Clubs Hand Out DictionariesRotary Clubs to Distribute Last of 1,900 Dictionaries at Zach
Poudre School District Superintendent Dr. Jerry Wilson and members of PSD’s Board of Education will join Rotary Club members when they give each Zach Core Knowledge Elementary School 3rd grader their own personal hardbound illustrated dictionary.
Wilson and school board members will be on hand at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9, at Zach Core Knowledge Elementary School, 3715 Kechter Rd, when 3rd graders in Jamie Drage’s class receive their own illustrated dictionaries to keep and use in the years ahead.
“Students will do a mini-lesson with the dictionaries after we all get them,” Drage said.
Rotary Read began giving dictionaries to 3rd graders in September and has distributed nearly 1,900 free dictionaries to PSD 3rd graders this fall. The program began several years ago and thousands of students have received their own dictionary.
“When my granddaughter prepared to go to middle school, the first thing she put in her was the dictionary she received back when she was in 3rd grade,” said Marsha Ring, PSD Media Facilitator.
