History Moore opened in 1957 and was remodeled and expanded in 1995. The school was named after Jessie R. Moore, a PSD educator and principal.
Learning culture Moore offers a warm, inviting learning environment serving families living near the school and Colorado State University families from around the world. Moore offers its students a true multicultural learning environment with students from more than 15 countries.
Academic environment Moore is one of four PSD neighborhood schools teaching the Hirsch Core Knowledge. The Core Knowledge sequence provides students with a broad base of knowledge, a rich vocabulary, the knowledge necessary for higher levels of learning, and the motivation to learn, while integrating the Character Counts education program—emphasizing the six pillars of trustworthiness, responsibility, caring, fairness, citizenship, and respect—into its daily activities. We believe our diversity helps bring the depth of the Core curriculum level. Moore is also a PBS (Positive Behavior Support) school.
Instructional & enrichment programs Students at Moore take advantage of a well-stocked media center housing an international library with books in the first languages of many of our students.
