Grandparents Day – Tuesday, November 20 – 1:30 – 3:00
Keeping with the tradition of inviting grandparents to experience school with their grandchild at CLPE, Grandparents Day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 20 from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. All grandparents of CLPE students are invited to come to school and attend classes with their grandchild. It is fun to experience school as the children do each day. Grandparents can check out their grandchild early if they wish! Cookies, coffee, and juice are available in the cafeteria for grandparents thanks to efforts and generosity of Jenny Cope!
School Closed for Thanksgiving vacation Wednesday, November 21 – Friday, November 23
School will not be in session from Wednesday, November 21 through Friday, November 23 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. I wish you a safe, healthy, delicious, Thanksgiving vacation. My wish is that you enjoy some time off of work and school, good food, the comfort of family, and the blessings of the season! Happy Thanksgiving!
No School on Monday, November 26 for Collaboration Day
While students and families enjoy and extended Thanksgiving Holiday, teachers and staff will be working hard on Monday, November 26. We will work on understanding and improving writing instruction for all students.
Classes for students resume Tuesday, November 27 at 9 am!
Poinsettia Certificate Sales have begun!
The major fundraiser for CLPE, Poinsettia certificate sales, has begun. The sale of the certificates for poinsettias provides funding through the CLPE PTO for many projects that positively impact your child. In fact, the CLPE PTO paid for the assembly conducted by the Denver Zoo on Monday, November 5. This sale is a wonderful community partnership with the local greenhouse, the Plantorium! Poinsettia certificates make great gifts. The cool thing is that the recipient of the certificate gets to pick out his or her own poinsettia at the Plantorium. Those plants are always so full, colorful, and beautiful! Get your certificates while you can!
Reminder about the pick up of students after school
Please make sure that you follow these simple rules as you pick up your child after school to ensure that the line moves quickly and, most importantly, that your child is safe!
1. Form two lines as close to the parked cars on each side so you can leave a lane for traffic to move between the lines. It is especially important to leave a lane for cars entering the parking lot from the highway to move through.
2. Move your car forward as the car in front of you moves forward.
3. Always expect your child to cross at the crosswalk where adults are available to help him or her cross safely. Never beckon to your child to walk between cars to get to you. You never know when someone will pull out.
4. Never leave your car unattended in the pick up lines.
5. Drive with patience, courtesy, and care through the parking lot using your turn signal!
