Counseling
The school counseling at Cache La Poudre Elementary is a proactive, developmental, preventative program. Elementary school is a time when students are developing beliefs and attitudes about themselves, their peers, their social group and their family. At CLPE we implement classroom guidance lessons that focus on safety, stranger awareness, understanding self and others, coping skills, social skills, refusal skills, decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, bully proofing, and good character awareness. Career education is also introduced in each grade level at Cache La Poudre Elementary. The Bridges Program with Paws in Jobland is used with the primary students. The Real Game will be used with the intermediate students beginning next fall.
CLPE’s school counseling consists of the three C’s
Counseling: Individual and group counseling to help with peer mediation, friendship skills, family issues, self-esteem, self management, and coping skills.
Consultation/Collaboration: Staff, parents, administrators, special education services, community supports and other outside agencies.
Coordination: Guidance lessons, parent trainings, 504 support, STAT and Staffing Team, Testing, Peer Mediation, and staff development.
CLPE’s school counseling program is constantly growing and improving in order to better reflect the mission of our elementary.
