History:

Lesher Junior High School opened in 1960 and is named for David B. Lesher, a former PSD superintendent of schools. Lesher's most recent remodel was completed in 2005.

Learning Culture:

Because our students live in a highly technological and ever-changing society, our emphasis is on teaching students how to access, interpret, and apply information to assure they have the skills to enjoy a lifetime of learning.

Academic Environment:

Lesher students are challenged by a varied and rigorous curriculum. Advanced courses include Honors Biology, advanced English, humanities, creative writing Introduction to Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Science, Advance Placement World History, and several performing arts classes.

The District magnet International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program at Lesher is an academically focused curriculum including 7th grade foreign language for highly motivated students as prescribed by the IB organization. It involves an integration of five areas of interaction within the core subjects of English, humanities (world geography and history), science, mathematics, French or Spanish, physical education, arts, and technology.
