Art
Art at Linton follows a curriculum which pledges to provide every student with the opportunity to experience a wide variety of Art mediums, a working knowledge of Art History, and sense of aesthetic appreciation for themselves and their world.
All Art projects are grounded in the basic Art principles: line, color, pattern, form, texture, shape, and space. We build information year by year in a sequential manner. If the 1st grade is learning about primary and secondary colors, the 3rd grade might be discussing warm and cool colors, and the 5th grade monochromatic painting. Each lesson builds on the previous year. Art history and criticism are a common part of class and are presented in a way to combine information with the formation of individual opinions.
Whenever possible we try to integrate projects with classroom units. This adds another dimension to what is learned in Social Studies, Science, or Language Arts, and it gives us a chance to explore new areas.
Art is an important part of the education process. Our artwork is not just displayed in the halls to provide decoration. It is displayed with the pride and acknowledgment of a job well done!
