Parent Advisory Board (PAB)

What is the Olander PAB?

The Parent Advisory Board / Accountability Committee is part of Olander's 'Site Based' Governance System.  The PAB provides a channel for communication among parents, teachers, students, and administration.  The PAB provides representative input from the parent community regarding numerous issues facing the school.  The PAB  meets monthly to communicate with school personnel regarding school programs, curriculum change, district concerns, and future planning.  In addition, the PAB, along with staff members, serves as a parent accountability committee to assess needs, contribute to setting school goals and evaluating progress towards those goals.

Meetings

The Olander Parent Advisory Board (PAB) meets monthly with principal Brian Olver to provide parent input on academic and school policy issues.   PAB meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:45 pm in the Media Center immediately following the OLANDER PTO meeting.  All parents are invited to attend!

PAB Mission

Under the umbrella of overall parents involvement, and in conjunction with the PTO, the mission of the Olander Elementary PAB is to enhance the quality of education for all students by providing a parent voice and viewpoint in the school.  The PAB strives to represent all parents and cooperate with the Olander staff in achieving the school and community's primary mission of child education.  The PAB endeavors to take a proactive role in guiding the academic and social direction of Olander Elementary School.

Roles

The Olander PAB completes its mission by:

  • Advising the Olander Principal and Staff regarding the parents' views on important matters.
  • Soliciting and responding to parents input on matters important to the school and to parents.
  • Representing Olander Elementary's interests to the school district and the community at large.
  • Participating in the development of and reviewing the progress toward school accountability goals.
