Broadcast News
Broadcast News is a creative activity where Olander students meet before school to produce short bi-weekly video "News Shows" that cover current events and topics of interest to the Olander community. Students develop ideas for each news story and show, investigate stories using basic journalism skills, develop interview questions, conduct and film interviews, film events, and coordinate the production of the news show. Students edit the final video to create a 15-minute Broadcast News 'episode' that is shown every other Friday afternoon to all classrooms. They are fun to watch!
Broadcast News cultivates a variety of skills including project planning and coordination, journalism, video technology, art, writing, and public speaking. The shows are developed with enthusiasm, humor, creativity, and school spirit.
