More about OKCC and Service Learning

What is Service Learning?  Service learning integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, encourage life-long civic engagement, and strengthen communities.  Kids Care Club believes that kids are empowered by their contribution to the world around them.  By service to others, kids establish connections with people of diverse cultures and economic situations.  Beyond citizenship, kids develop positive self-esteem and learn many life lessons including tolerance, problem solving, cooperation, and confidence.

OKCC does service projects around Fort Collins and sponsors events for the Olander community.  The focus of school events is to get students involved in the spririt of giving and to learn about people in our community, state, country, and world who need assistance and why.  The success of Olander's Kids Care Club since it was founded in 2004 has been overwhelming.  Leaders, parents, and students have observed remarkable impacts of the OKCC work.  All Olander students and community members are welcome to participate.
