We are held accountable as a learning community with success being measured by growth, achievement, mastery of skills, and performance. We have high expectations and help each child reach their full potential. But…….a well rounded learning environment also recognizes that a “good education” is so much more than just academic learning. At Shepardson, we embrace every child knowing that ALL children are special and all children have talents. Shepardson students have opportunities available to them that celebrates and refines many areas and many levels of “talent”…….truly focusing on the “whole child”.
Did you know that we have 50+ students who participate in choir?? And about the same in Student Council??? Our Spelling Bee and Geography Bee attract many students each year…and the entire school watches with anticipation ready to celebrate their hard work. Our students gain lots of leadership skills participating in Book Buddies, Bus Buddies, leading morning announcements, and Student Council. Our counseling program includes a plethora of healthy choices/healthy attitude lessons and also supports student lead class meetings. Our Art Service group looks for ways to use their talents to enhance the appearance of the building. Our top-notch after school enrichment offerings includes several language and culture options, drama, science, chess, fitness, service, and a Junior First Lego League. Students experience technology instruction at every grade level, can choose a technology-focused enrichment session, and have access to more than 117 computers/ iBooks in the building! The value of “serving others” is learned through our recycling program, many service groups, and a newly formed “Shepardson Service Stars” club.
Shepardson’s comprehensive approach to education, one that embraces the whole child, creates an environment where all children can shine!
