A word about fundraising
Each year, the Shepardson PTO distributes over $25,000 to Shepardson Elementary. Where does all this money go? This money funds a wide variety of items, including:
- Literacy program (materials and paraprofessional support)
- Paraprofessional staffing of the media center (library)
- Enrichment program coordinator's salary
- Software and paraprofessional support for the computer lab
- Teacher requested supplies for their classrooms
- Staff training
- General-use office equipment
- Assemblies
- and several other items
Why is this extra funding needed? Quite frankly, the funding that Shepardson receives from the State of Colorado is inadequate to provide the high-quality learning environment we feel our children deserve. The Poudre School District (PSD) is at the lower end of the funding scale from the State, and Shepardson is at the lower end of funding from PSD.
Funding the activities above augments the learning environment at Shepardson and frees up general budget funds for other vital needs.
Participation in any fundraiser is strictly voluntary.
We understand that you may want to support Shepardson Elementary, but may not want to participate in a particular fundraiser. Cash donations are welcome at any time. The Shepardson PTO is a non-profit organization and donations may be tax deductible (please check with your tax advisor).
If you wish to make a cash donation, simply drop off a check at the front office, or send it in to your child's teacher. Checks should be made payable to Shepardson PTO. Please include a note indicating your child's teacher's name so that a receipt for your records can be sent home to you.
