Shepardson Parent Teacher Organization
Welcome!
At Shepardson Elementary School, we have a formal organization through which parents can become involved in their children’s education, the Shepardson Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). The Shepardson PTO represents a cross-section of our school’s community. Any and all current and prospective Shepardson parents are welcome to attend a PTO meeting.
The primary purpose of the PTO is to support the learning experience of children at school. We support the school through service projects and fundraising activities. We are also directly involved in the decision making process of disbursing the funds raised for the benefit of Shepardson students.
Funds raised by the PTO support assemblies, the literacy program, media center, playground equipment, classroom requests, staff training, office equipment, enrichment program (including the coordinator’s salary), media/technology center, and many other items.
We encourage you to attend a meeting to see if you have an interest in becoming more actively involved in the PTO. The meetings are generally held on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 P.M. in the Shepardson Media Center (reminders are published in the Shepardson newsletter). Childcare will be provided and pizza will be ordered. All it takes is your interest and time to make this organization a success. We hope to see you there!
