I enjoy what I do at Shepardson because... Teaching has been a passion of mine since I was in third grade and tortured my little sister with homemade books and lessons. Shepardson has allowed me the wonderful opportunity to take that passion and put it to work helping kids find their passion for learning. My students keep me on my toes and help keep me young. I doubt there are very many professions where that can be said. Each morning as I walk my dog and watch the sunrise, I think about how lucky I am to be able to do what I love and to do it in such a great school.
My favorite book is... "The Golden Compass" was my favorite book of the summer. I had to read it and the rest of the series before the movie comes out. My favorite book of all times is "The Once and Future King". I have lost track of how many times I have read it, but I know I'm on my third copy of the book.
My hobbies and interests include... according to Mr. Hoffman, my hobby is my family, doing things for and with them. I suppose he is right, but I do have other interests. I love to read. In the summer, reading is my vacation get away. Scrapbooking is great fun and something that allows me to be artistic. I especially enjoy creating cards. I make my own seasonal and birthday cards for friends and family. I have even taught classes on how to make cards. Knitting is my winter vacation get away. It is a way for me to relax and create at the same time. A favorite interest that I share with Mr. Hoffman is cooking. We have taken many fabulous cooking classes together and are always looking for new recipes. We love to be able to spend time together creating great meals at home either for ourselves, our friends, and/or our families. An fairly new interest of mine is the newest addition to our family a schnoodle named Mr. Schnoodles. He is a great source of entertainment and laughter. Who needs TV?!
I love Shepardson because... there are many reason I love Shepardson, but I think the main reason is my long standing connection to this community of families and teachers. My son went to Shepardson from kindergarten to sixth grade. I started teaching here shortly after he left and have had a blast every year meeting new students, new families, and working with the most amazing people in our district. Shepardson feels like my home away from home and I appreciate my good fortune of being a part of this community for as long as I have, both as a parent and a teacher. |
