Guidelines for Use of Student Editing Workstations
Poudre School district student workstations are available for class projects. Student access is based on equipment availability. The following guidelines are to be followed while working in the district office.
- You must be able to work independently and make time to learn the editing programs at the student workstations. Faculty is here to assist you with your project but it is up to you to learn the equipment.
- Please sign up in advance for student workstation time. There are a number of students using the stations throughout the year and stations become full especially in the after school hours. You may sign up for time Monday through Fridays 8:00am- 5:00pm. Over holidays and breaks time is limited so please check with the studio office to make sure the student workstations will be open. You may only sign up two weeks in advance to reserve the student workstations.
- Use all equipment with care and if you're not sure how to use something please ask. No eating or drinking in the office. Please feel free to use the break room.
- Before beginning your project have a staff member set up your project on the hard drive for you. Write down the name and location of your project.
- Remember you are in a working TV studio so act appropriately. DO NOT yell, try to interrupt others who are working or spin in chairs. Please leave the office in the same shape that you found it. Also, do not install any software onto the computer or burn any CDs/DVDs without supervision.
- When you are done with your project please make time for one more session at the student workstation to clean up your files on the video capture drives. Projects on the computer will be subject to removal if left on for an extended amount of time. Remember, we would rather you delete what you no longer need instead of us deleting something you did need.
- Please speak to one of the channel 10 staff members before using any kind of copyrighted music.
- Have fun and allow yourself double the time you think the project will take to complete.
