Fundraisers, Service Projects

Check out the latest school fundraisers and community service projects:

Thursday, Nov. 19, 5 to 9 p.m., Jason's Deli Fundraising Night, percentage of proceeds go toward the Fossil Ridge High School's "The Beat Goes On" project to purchase Automated External Defibrillators (AED)  for schools
Stephen Arnold was an incredible young man; capable, smart, and always friendly. While playing basketball in Fossil’s gym, Stephen collapsed; his heart refusing to beat on.

When it came to choosing a class service project this year, the vote was unanimous. In Stephen’s memory we are raising money to install AEDs in each of the schools he attended: Timnath, Zach, Kinard, and Fossil. Cost of each AED unit is about $1,650.

AEDs, and the incredible life-saving technology they use, are rare in PSD, a fact that has been realized through Stephen’s tragedy. The impact AEDs can have in emergency situations regarding Sudden Cardiac Arrest makes the installation of AEDs in our schools not just a smart choice, but a necessary one. These machines can save the lives of not only students, but staff, parents, grandparents, siblings, and any visitors which may come through the building.

Please come and support this worthwhile cause.

Through the Adopt-a-Family progject, RMHS homeroom classes will adopt needy families and work as a team to give them food, gifts and a festive holiday event.  This year’s event will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, at Rocky, 1300 W. Swallow Rd., when families come to the school to collect their gifts.

In the past, hand-made scarves, hats, mittens donated by local knitters have added a special touch to each family’s gift basket.  Knitters should drop off donations to Leah Kapral, RMHS Student Services secretary by Monday, Dec. 7.
