Code of Conduct protects students, upholds discipline
Parents and students are urged to review PSD’s high expectations for student behavior stated in the 2007–2008 Student Rights & Code of Conduct booklet , distributed annually to every family (online at www.psdschools.org).
During the 2006–2007 school year, the majority of PSD students upheld our high standards—following the policies, rules, and regulations set forth in the booklet—and were not involved in disciplinary action.
Prevention emphasized, disciplinary action follows violations
When a PSD student violates a policy or law, principals, counselors, school administrative staff, and School Resource Officers work with students and parents for the best outcome—appropriate disciplinary action, treatment, and improved behavior. Interventions may involve consequences, counseling, and referral to community services.
Prevention is critical to providing a safe learning environment. Proactive prevention addresses substance abuse prevention, violence prevention, and behavior problems. Prevention programs involve both school-based programming and research-based curricula that have been proven successful.
Please direct any questions you have about PSD’s Code of Conduct to your student’s school principal.
