PSD announces finalists for superintendent

The Poudre School District Board of Education is excited to announce the finalists for PSD superintendent. 

They are:

  • Jonathan Cooper, superintendent of Mason City Schools in Ohio
  • Brian Kingsley, chief academic officer of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, NC
  • Heather Sánchez, executive director of schools for the Bellevue School District in Bellevue, WA

Staff, students, families and community members will have an opportunity to meet the finalists during two upcoming virtual forums on Zoom. The staff forum is 4-7:30 p.m. April 1, and the community forum is 5-8:30 p.m. April 2. Meeting links and other information on the PSD Superintendent Search web page. 

The finalists were selected from among a pool of candidates who applied during the Board of Education’s nationwide search, led by educational consulting firm Hazard Young Attea & Associates (HYA). HYA will host the virtual forums next month.

Next steps 

The Board of Education intends to interview the finalists via a publicly available online livestream next month. The meeting is not open to in-person public attendance. Meeting information will be posted to the PSD Superintendent Search web page when it is finalized. 

The board is targeting a start date in July for the new superintendent. Dr. Sandra Smyser was PSD’s most-recent superintendent, serving from July 2013 through January 2021.
