Gov. Polis extends school closures through April 30

A message from the superintendent

Today, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis announced that schools will remain closed through at least April 30. Our PSD community has shown great resilience through this point, and we will get through this together. We sincerely miss our students, staff and families and wish we could be together sooner, but we support state and local efforts to keep people as safe and healthy as possible.

Our current plans remain in place during the extension, with teachers and students engaging in remote learning as they have been.

As a district, we're distributing laptops to elementary students, to ensure they have tools like their older counterparts to learn remotely. We're striving to get internet services to students who currently don't have access, and our staff are making impressive and tremendous strides in remote PreK-12 education. We will continue this strong work while we are closed.

I've said it before and I say it again: I could not be prouder of our employees, PSD students and families, and our communities. I know this is a time of great uncertainty, and I want you to know that I appreciate each and every one of you.

Sincerely,

Sandra Smyser, Ph.D.
