Due to recent cases of COVID-19 in the community, PSD has canceled summer workouts for all athletics and summer activities through July 31.
District leaders made this decision to ensure the PSD community is doing its part to limit the spread of the virus at a time when cases of COVID-19 have recently increased in Larimer County. Additionally, PSD is working with Larimer County Department of Health and Environment officials to investigate multiple reports of possible COVID-19 exposure among student athletes on separate teams at two PSD high schools. Communications about this have been sent to the respective teams' families and student athletes.
As part of the decision, the district has asked coaches to not contact student athletes until at least July 31. PSD teams were allowed to begin athletic practices June 22, provided their plans for following health protocols (to keep student athletes and coaches as safe as possible) were approved by the district.
PSD activities have also been canceIed through at least July 31. The Colorado Bandmasters Association voted recently to cancel this fall's high school marching band season because of concerns over COVID-19. Given this decision, PSD feels it's prudent to pause all athletics and activities, pending further guidance for the fall.
Decisions and plans about athletics and activities for August and beyond will be made later and shared as soon as possible.
While planning for fall, PSD will continue to monitor and follow guidance from local and state public health and education officials, as well as the Colorado High School Activities Association.
