Given the significant smoke from fires burning in Larimer County and Wyoming, Poudre School District staff are actively monitoring air-quality levels.
School will continue as planned today, Wednesday, Oct. 14. That said, principals have been asked to keep elementary students indoors who are at school today for Phase 3. As a reminder, there is no school for elementary students Thursday and no school for all students Friday.
Parents and guardians always have the option to pick up their students from school early. This would be an excused absence.
Moving forward, PSD may decide to shift to remote education on days where air-quality reaches unhealthy levels, and the district will communicate as soon as possible with families and staff if that were to occur.
PSD staff consult a variety of resources, including but not limited to the PurpleAir, Air Quality Index and Larimer County Department of Health and Environment. Be aware that air-quality levels may vary greatly from school to school, as PSD’s district is roughly 1,800 square miles and spans many communities, including several in the foothills.
Thank you, as always, for supporting PSD as we work together to keep our staff and students as safe as possible.
