School Choice Application Periods

School Choice 2026-2027 School Year (current)

• First-round application period: Closed
• Second-round application: Open until early May 2027. 
  • Second-round applications are based on submission time and priority ranking – not a lottery system
  • Second-round applicants are placed on the waitlist after any first-round applicants within the applicable priority ranking.
  • The second round is for families who:
    • Did not participate in the first round of school choice applications. 
    • Rejected a seat offer or had it automatically declined due to no response and wish to reapply. 
    • Wish to apply to additional schools after submitting a first-round application. 
    • Wish to change schools or return to the designated school after the current school year has started. 
  • Seats are offered when space becomes available. 

School Choice 2027-2028 School Year (next)

• The first-round application period will open in early November 2026. Please check back for the exact date. 
• The second-round application period will open in mid-January 2027. Please check back for the exact date. 

School Choice

PSD's School Choice program allows families to select the school that best meets their child's educational needs based on space availability and eligibility requirements. A school choice application is required to attend a school that is not a student’s neighborhood school or to attend a choice only school.

PSD offers diverse schools and programs 

Neighborhood schools offer a rigorous standards-driven curriculum, and gifted, enrichment, and accelerated options. Other schools may have a specific curriculum or focus like International Baccalaureate, Core Knowledge, hands-on learning and dual-language immersion.
