Apply for Early Childhood Education Programs/Preschool

PSD ECE offers high-quality programs that help young children get ready for kindergarten. Preschool is offered in 20 PSD elementary schools and our Early Head Start program supports families in our home-based and center-based options. Placement at neighborhood schools or a parent's top-choice location is not guaranteed, but preferences are highly regarded and given consideration upon admission.

How do I apply for PSD Early Childhood?

The PSD Early Childhood application can be completed on a cell phone, tablet, or computer and will take about 30 minutes.

Before starting the application, it's best to gather the following documents to upload or attach an image:

Birth Certificate
- If applying for PreK, child must be 3 or 4 years old by Oct. 1.
- If your child is 5 years old by Oct. 1, please visit the PSD Kindergarten page.
Proof of address
- PreK students must reside within PSD boundaries (with the exception of children of PSD employees).
  - Mortgage Statement
  - Signed Lease
  - Utility Bill
Proof of Annual Income, any that apply
- 2025 Federal Income Tax form (preferred)
- All 2025 W-2 forms for the current year (preferred)
- Payroll check stubs (reflecting last 12 months of income)
- Current Public Assistance (TANF, SSI or SNAP)
- Foster Care Stipend/documentation
- Social Security documentation
- Letter from current employer (subject to verification)
- Unemployment Compensation
Custody Documentation (if applicable)

Health Documentation*:

Current Physical Exam (required at time of application)
Current Immunization Records (required at time of application)
Current Dental Exam (submit with application if available)
Lead Test Results (submit with application if available)

*Prenatal program applicants do not need to submit health documents.

Step 3: An EC Enrollment Tech will contact you within 10 business days to review your application and confirm any remaining documents needed.

Step 4: All children are placed on our waitlist initially. Classroom placements are made based on our established selection criteria.

You will be contacted if your child is placed in a classroom, and a final enrollment communication will be sent.

Step 5: Attend Preschool!

Your child will be taught by highly qualified, licensed teachers who will provide social-emotional skill development, literacy and language development, individualized academic plans, and FUN-filled classes!

Step 2: Complete Universal Preschool Application

Only families with children who will be 4 years old by October 1 need to fill out BOTH the Universal Preschool Application AND Poudre School District Early Childhood Application.

Step 3: Complete ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE

Step 4: An Enrollment Tech will contact you within 10 business days to review your application and confirm any remaining documents needed.

All children are placed on our waitlist initially. Placements are made based on our establishe selection criteria

You will be contacted if your child is placed in a classroom and a final enrollment communication will be sent.

I want to apply for EARLY HEAD START and my child is ZERO to THREE YEARS OLD

All children start on our waitlist and placements are made from the waitlist based on our selection criteria, as our program is not first-come, first-serve.

Step 5: Begin home visits!

Your new family specialist will contact you to schedule your first home visit together.

Step 2: Review and Interview

When you submit your application online, enrollment staff will contact you to review application and conduct interview.

Step 3: Complete Enrollment

Your application will then be moved on to our eligibility team for processing and eligibility determination. You will be contacted via email regarding your eligibility.

All applicants start on our waitlist, and placements are made from the waitlist based on our selection criteria, as our program is not first-come, first-serve.

Step 4: Begin home visits!

Your new family specialist will contact you to schedule your first home visit together.
