Listening sessions are opportunities for members of the public, including staff, families, students, and community members, to provide feedback on the scenarios that the PSD Facilities Planning Steering Committee is developing. All sessions follow the same format - an overview presentation, followed by small-table conversations and a questionnaire.

The Facilities Planning Steering Committee presented possible options at the March 19 PSD Board of Education meeting. After gathering feedback from listening sessions, the committee will make two to three recommendations to the school board. The board will be asked to make a decision about how to proceed at its June 11 meeting.

June 4 Board Listening Session

May 13 update: June 4 Board Listening Session expanded to include more time options, moved to RMHS

The PSD Board of Education looks forward to hearing feedback from all who wish to participate at their June 4 listening session focused on potential school consolidation, closure, and boundary adjustment scenarios. In order to hear more voices and have a more collaborative process, the listening session will be structured in a conversational style, mirroring the format used at the Facilities Planning Steering Committee’s eight listening sessions. This is a change in format from the board’s April 16 listening session.

Six one-hour sessions will take place in classrooms at Rocky Mountain High School, located at 11300 W. Swallow Road, Fort Collins, on Tuesday, June 4. One board member will be assigned to each classroom. Three one-hour sessions will also be held online at 10 a.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on June 4.

Registration for in-person sessions opened May 13 and is now closed due to attendance being at capacity. Those interested are encouraged to participate in one of the three virtual sessions at 10 a.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. A Zoom link for those will be provided closer to the meeting.

In-person one-hour time slots (Note - these are FULL, registration is closed):

  • 9-10 a.m. (60 seats)
  • 10-11 a.m. (40 seats)
  • 1-2 p.m. (60 seats)
  • 2-3 p.m. (80 seats)
  • 5-6 p.m. (120 seats)
  • 6-7 p.m. (100 seats)

Online sessions (Zoom link to be provided closer to the meeting)

  • 10-11 a.m. (20 seats)
  • 5-6 p.m. (20 seats)

Those who sign up for a session can spend the hour talking with the school board member in their room. Any questions an attendee has that are not answered during the conversation can be written on a notecard, along with a contact email address. Board members will collect these cards after every session. The sessions will not be livestreamed.

How will the committee ensure diverse voices are heard in the process?

Engaging people we support from marginalized populations

  • The outside facilitator, CSU’s Institute for the Built Environment, is collaborating with PSD’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team to determine how best to include these voices in an authentic and inclusive way.
  • A representative from the Integrated Services Department, specifically supporting the Transitions Pathways programs, has been selected to serve on the steering committee.
  • Additionally, staff from PSD’s Language, Culture, and Equity and Integrated Services departments will serve as resources to the committee in its meetings.

Engaging our students

  • Student voice is critical in this work and the committee will work with the facilitators to create opportunities for students to weigh in on possible changes
