Due to forecasted high temperatures in the area, most Poudre School District schools will be dismissing students two hours early on Thursday, Aug. 14, and Friday, Aug. 15. The Transition Day scheduled for Wednesday Aug. 13 for all sixth and ninth grade students will continue as scheduled.
Schools that will release early on Thursday, Aug. 14 and Friday, Aug. 15 include:
- All elementary schools except the Mountain schools
- All middle schools
- Centennial High School
- Polaris Expeditionary Learning School
- Poudre Community Academy
Students attending the above schools who ride the bus home will still do so, and will be dropped off at their regular stops two hours earlier than normal.
AlphaBEST after-school care will be provided only at Bacon, Eyestone, and McGraw Elementary Schools, but space will be limited; families are encouraged to follow AlphaBEST procedure for registering children to use these services during early releases or closures. Please note that families will be responsible for transporting their students to these AlphaBEST sites. Contact AlphaBEST directly at 1(866)300-7750 for more information.
Afternoon field trips, afternoon Early Childhood sessions, and after school activities at all schools releasing early are canceled for the day.
The only schools that will continue normal operations, including any afternoon activities and athletics, are:
- Fort Collins High School
- Fossil Ridge High School
- Poudre High School
- Rocky Mountain High School
- Timnath Middle High School
- Wellington Middle High School
- PSD Global Academy
- PSD transition programs
- All Mountain schools
Charter schools will decide independently whether to release students early. Concurrent enrollment classes will also continue as scheduled.
PSD determines heat-related early release or closures based on a series of factors, which you can learn more about by following this link.
Thank you for your patience with the change in schedule. This decision was made with the health and safety of all our students and staff in mind, and we appreciate your understanding.
