We want to acknowledge that this year, some state-required assessments are scheduled during Passover, an important holiday for many members of our community. We recognize that this timing may create challenges for students and families who observe, and we want to express our understanding and support.
While the district values being mindful of religious and cultural observances, the testing windows for these assessments are established by the state and are not determined at the district level. As a result, schools are required to administer the assessments within the designated timeframe.
That said, we have advised our school administrators to proceed with care and flexibility, and to be culturally responsive in their planning and support for students. Schools will work with families to ensure that students are not penalized for observing religious traditions, and scheduling adjustments will be made when possible.
We appreciate your understanding and partnership as we continue working toward an inclusive and respectful learning environment for all.
