Poudre School District is excited to announce that Matt Marietta has been selected as the next principal of Olander Elementary School beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Marietta brings experience in education both locally and outside Colorado and aims to provide a positive learning space for all students.
Marietta has a strong academic background in education and leadership, having completed all of his degrees at Iowa State University. He is currently a doctoral candidate in P-12 Systems Level Leadership, Organizations and Policy, holds superintendent's licensure in Advanced Studies, a master’s degree in Education Leadership and Policy Studies, and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
Marietta has served schools in Colorado and Iowa and dedicated his career to building strong schools where every child is known, challenged, and supported. He previously served in PSD as principal at Timnath Elementary School and the PSD Mountain Schools. He also worked as a district preschool director, head elementary principal, assistant elementary principal, and elementary teacher in Iowa prior to serving in the Poudre School District. He is currently the data analyst and lead learner for secondary schools in the Madrid Community School District in Iowa.
Throughout his career, Marietta has led with a focus on strong relationships, clear systems, and a positive student-centered culture. He is looking forward to working with a devoted staff, supportive families, and talented students as he steps into his new role at Olander. He is excited to support the purposeful and engaging opportunities that Project-Based Learning offers, combined with an emphasis on educating the whole child, to create learning spaces where students thrive.
