School supply drive has begun! Special thanks to our community partners

Getting fresh crayons, glue sticks and notebooks add to the excitement and anticipation a new school year brings. To ensure all kids experience that and are ready to learn, PSD and community partners are working together to provide brand-new school supplies for students in need.

"We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who so generously donated school supplies for children in the Poudre School District, it truly is a village.  A special thank you goes to CSU and OtterCares who have provided over 5,200 total backpacks and school supply bags to meet the needs or our schools. At PSD we recognize every student deserves the supplies they need to succeed in school." said Dawn Feit, PSD volunteer & partnership coordinator.

Brenda Hartman, a volunteer at the Bamford Elementary's Pack Pantry, said student needs for school supplies are ongoing throughout the school year.

"The Gary Bamford Pack Pantry received backpacks filled with needed school supplies from the PSD school supply program last February. The Pantry opened in January and the need for school supplies was evident well into the school year," said Hartman. "The cost of school supplies and needed materials at home for projects and homework is beyond the reach for many families in our community. The Pack Pantry families greatly appreciated these supplies for their children!"

Schools work with the volunteer & partnership coordinator to fill all needs and distribute school supplies to students. Families who need assistance with school supplies should contact their school.

Community partners support PSD students

Many thanks to Colorado State University’s (CSU) School is Cool and the OtterCares’ Pack2School programs, which have worked closely with the PSD Language, Culture and Equity Department to deliver filled backpacks to schools for many years. Through these partners, thousands of backpacks and school supply bags will be distributed to meet the needs of students.

Additional partners include Intel, Realities for Children, Volunteers of America, Front Range Community College, automation-x, First American Title, Staples, PGK-Kiwanis and more.

PSD Business and Community Development Coordinator Nick Peterson said PSD appreciates everyone's efforts and generosity.

"It's a monumental task requiring countless hours of work, hundreds of volunteers, and substantial resources. The impact of supplying our students in need is profound and we can't thank our partners enough for their incredible commitment," he said.
