Heat in schools, calendar survey and A/C study

Cooler temperatures the past couple of days may have provided some relief, but there are still warmer days ahead.  

There’s no other way to say it: It is hot in schools. Please know that we hear you. We empathize with you, and we’re doing everything we can to address the heat. Unfortunately, there is no quick or inexpensive fix. 

This update has information about what PSD is doing about the heat now; a forthcoming school year calendar survey; and an air conditioning feasibility study.  

 

PSD schools recognized for achievements with CDE performance awards

Fourteen Poudre School District schools have been selected for Governor’s Distinguished Improvement awards or John Irwin Schools of Excellence awards for their achievements in the 2021-22 school year. One PSD elementary school was recognized with both.

The Colorado Department of Education recently honored schools and districts across the state that won 2022 performance awards for outstanding academic student growth and/or achievement.

PSD football games at CSU Canvas Stadium Oct. 6

Players from Poudre School District’s four comprehensive high schools will go head-to-head again in cross-town football games at Colorado State University’s Canvas Stadium this fall during the Canvas Community Classic.  

Fossil Ridge and Fort Collins High Schools will kick off at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6, at Sonny Lubick Field on CSU’s main campus in Fort Collins. Following that, Rocky Mountain High School will take on Poudre High School at 7 p.m.

As a student, the transition from middle school to high school is a huge milestone. It is a time of excitement, growth, and new opportunities. However, it can also be a daunting experience for many students, with the change in environment, academic expectations, and social pressures.
