Integrated Services (Special Education) FAQ

What are Integrated Services in PSD?

PSD Integrated Services address the special education and related service needs of students with disabilities identified under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA 2004).

How do I know if my child qualifies for Integrated Services? How do I get my child evaluated?

PSD offers free screenings through the Child Find process to be identified for IEP or 504 support. Vision and hearing screenings are also available.

How are decisions made about the support and services my child will receive?

Each IEP and 504 plan has its own support team, and that team collaboratively makes decisions with families.

What is an Individualized Education Program (IEP), and how is it developed?

  • The IEP will be developed by an IEP team outlining the individualized accommodations, modifications, special education, and related services to be provided to a student in order to meet his or her specific and unique academic and functional needs.
  • The federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) mandates schools provide a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) to all students.

How can I be involved in creating and reviewing my child’s IEP?

Parents are part of the process from the beginning.

Are Integrated Services available in every PSD school?
