PSD Board of Education Seeking Qualified Applicants to Fill Vacant Seat

Qualified individuals interested in filling the recently vacated PSD Board of Education Director District E are invited to apply by submitting a letter of interest, a Notice of Intent to Apply for Vacancy form, and a Notarized Candidate Affidavit.

Please either download and print the forms linked in this press release or pick up the forms at the Johannsen Support Services Center, at 2407 Laporte Ave., between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. 

The deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. June 11, 2025.

Director District E serves people who reside in the northern region of the district. Click here to view a map of District E. Carolyn Reed, who served as the director of District E, submitted her resignation effective May 27, 2025.

The individual appointed to fill the District E position will serve until the successful candidate for the director position is elected and qualified in the Nov. 4, 2025 regular biennial school election.

The current Board of Education directors plan to conduct interviews prior to appointing a new member representing Director District E.

To qualify for the vacant Board seat, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Be an eligible elector of the Poudre School District for 12 consecutive months; and
  • Be a resident of the Poudre School District for 12 consecutive months; and
  • Be a resident of District E; and
  • Must not have been convicted of a sexual offense against a child.

The Board of Education will verify these qualifications through the records of the Larimer County Clerk and Recorder and the applicants’ affidavits.

To apply for the vacant Board seat, individuals must submit the following in person on or before 4:30 p.m. on June 11, 2025, to the Board of Education Secretary, at 2407 LaPorte Ave., Fort Collins, Colorado 80521.

  • Letter of interest stating why the applicant is interested in serving on the Board of Education, describing any background/experience the applicant has relating to the work of the school board, and explaining what, if any, involvement the applicant has had with schools.
  • A Notarized Candidate Affidavit verifying for the applicant has never been convicted of commission of a sexual offense against a child. The affidavit can be downloaded and printed or can be picked up in the office of the Board of Education at 2407 LaPorte Ave., Fort Collins, CO between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The Board will conduct background checks on all finalists.
  • A Notice of Intent to Apply for Vacancy Form. The notice can be downloaded and printed or be picked up in the office of the Board of Education, at 2407 LaPorte Ave. in Fort Collins, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
  • Complete fingerprinting for the purposes of a background check at the Johanssen Support Services Center at 2407 Laporte Avenue on or before June 11, 2025. Appointments for fingerprinting can be made by completing this form. NOTE: Applicants must indicate they are a BOE applicant for the appointment to be accepted.

Regular meetings are generally held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings generally include a dinner session beginning at 5:30pm followed by a business meeting or work session meeting at 6:30pm. Traditionally, Board meetings are not held in July. Periodically throughout the year, the Board holds special meetings and retreats outside of the regular meeting schedule. Board members also serve on one or more committees that meet during the school year.
