Jennifer McDermott

Jen McDermott, PsyD, LPC
EAS Counselor

Jen is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience in providing clinical mental health counseling to a broad range of individuals. She joined the EAS Team in May 2026 after dedicating most of her career prior to that to university counseling centers. Jen comes with a diverse range of professional experiences that not only includes providing therapy but also training and supervising graduate students in mental health fields. Jen’s true passion lies with providing psychotherapy – particularly individual and group therapy – to anyone who may be struggling with their mental health, in any capacity. She is specially trained and certified in treating PTSD and complex-PTSD through STAIR Therapy and would say that trauma-focused work has been a primary focus of her career as a therapist. In addition to trauma, Jen enjoys working with a variety of concerns including but not limited to anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties and functioning, identity development, experiences of discrimination/oppression, family dynamics, work stress, and more. Jen firmly believes that the relationship between a client and their therapist is one of the greatest catalysts for change, so she works hard to meet clients where they are and ensures that clients have the final say in the care they receive. Jen primarily practices from a combined emotion-focused and interpersonal process lens, while also incorporating skills-based, person-centered, and/or multicultural approaches as relevant.
