Extended Learning Opportunities

Young students participating in Camp SOL touch a prickly animal.

Student enrichment outside of school hours

Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO) programs provide students with homework help, enrichment clubs, and - as part of its mission - a safe space for students to grow and learn outside of school hours. ELO programs, coordinated through the Language, Culture, and Equity Department, are held during after-school hours and in the summer at Title 1 and 21st Century Community Learning Center sites in PSD.

Goals - ELO programs give students opportunities to:

  • Learn in a safe environment with positive adult role models
  • Socialize with peers in a healthy manner
  • Receive academic support
  • Engage in enriching activities that may otherwise be unavailable
  • Learn sportsmanship and cooperation during recreational activities
  • Become active members in their community

ELO Programs

PSD After 3

PSD After 3 provides free after-school programs for students enrolled at PSD Title 1 and 21st CCLC sites including Harris, Irish, Laurel, Linton and Putnam Elementary Schools. Activities focus on literacy, math and science academic support, tutoring, recreation, enrichment and other extracurricular activities.

PSD After 3 Schedule and Registration

After-school programs begin at each site's dismissal time and end approximately 90 minutes later. A schedule will be posted when available.

Fall programs run 8-10 weeks, October through December. Winter program sessions are held January through March. Programs are not offered during fall and spring breaks or when school is not in session or cancelled.

More program examples: books and crafts, experimenting with science, music, team sports, board games, writing club and more! PSD After 3 programs constantly change and may be modified at any time to best suit students’ needs.

Registration for PSD After 3
The enrollment process is a lottery system. Program and registration information is sent home via student folders a month prior to upcoming sessions. Parents apply for classes that their child would like to attend and submit the form back to their school. Enrolled students receive a confirmation before the start date.
