Assistive Technology and Augmentative Communication
In Poudre School District, the SWAAAC Team (Statewide Assistive Technology, Augmentative, and Alternative Communication Team) is available to support students, parents, and school teams in the areas of assistive technology and augmentative/alternative communication. In collaboration with school-based teams, the SWAAAC Team assists with:
- Assessing students' assistive technology and/or augmentative/alternative communication needs, equipment and software
- Decision-making with regards to assistive technology and augmentative/alternative communication systems and supports
- Training staff, families, and students
Referrals to the SWAAAC Team are generated by school teams based on student needs. Students typically referred to SWAAAC may be experiencing difficulties producing work, understanding written information, verbally communicating, physically interacting with their environment, or effectively participating in their role as a student.
School teams can access the Assistive Technology Team Referral Form for SWAAAC in the Staff Document Library under Integrated Services. Once the form is completed, it should be sent to: Ann Marie Scott/SWAAAC at Barton/PGA.
