Update from the PSD Comprehensive Planning Committee
Dear PSD Community,
Dear PSD Community,
All PSD non-charter school buildings will operate on a 2-hour delay Monday, Jan. 26, due to forecasted cold temperatures. Remote learning will not take place. Schools will dismiss at the regular time unless families are notified otherwise. Lunch service will continue as scheduled.
Across the country—and across the political spectrum—public education is the subject of strong opinions and big questions. What should students be learning, or not learning, in school? Are districts preparing young people for a world that doesn’t exist anymore? Are expectations for students too high or too low—and unmet? Is the only way to exercise school choice to opt out of the public school system entirely?
Most Poudre School District schools are operating on a normal schedule today following the restoration of power.
Due to continued high winds and unsafe transportation conditions, Red Feather Lakes Elementary, Livermore Elementary, and Stove Prairie Elementary are closed today.
Because of wind conditions, bus transportation is not available today for students who live in the mountains and attend other PSD schools.
We appreciate our families’ patience and understanding as we prioritize safety and continue to monitor conditions.
As a precaution due to the possibility of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) by Xcel Energy, Bethke Elementary, Timnath Elementary, and Timnath Middle-High School will be closed Dec. 17. All athletics and activities at these schools are also canceled Wed., Dec. 17. This decision was made to ensure we do not need to dismiss students during the school day if power is shut off for an extended period.
At the Nov. 18, 2025 Board of Education meeting, the Calendar Committee co-chairs shared the first reading of the proposed school calendar for the 2026-27 academic year. The Board will consider the calendar for approval at its December meeting.
The Poudre School District Board of Education and Superintendent Brian Kingsley proudly announce the commencement ceremonies for the PSD Class of 2026.

Larimer County approved more than just improvements to Poudre School District buildings when they passed the 2024 mill levy. They also made a direct contribution in classrooms. This includes art classrooms, where funds will create a stronger sense of equity for all students while providing the best equipment for artistic expression.
Dear Poudre School District community,
What a wonderful first day of school! Today, I had the privilege of visiting several campuses and was inspired by the excitement – from students eager to learn, to families celebrating new beginnings, to our incredible staff welcoming everyone to classrooms across the district. The energy across our schools was inspiring.
To capture the spirit of the day, we’ve put together a short video with highlights, and I invite you to watch and share in the joy of this new school year:
Calling all members of the Poudre School District community: Your superintendent and Board of Education want to hear from you!
