Kinard Middle School is proudly named for Hal Kinard, a long-term PSD educator. Kinard is a “Choice” school and PSD’s only Core Knowledge middle school. Kinard transitions students attending Zach, Traut, O’Dea, Moore, and Bethke Core Knowledge Elementary schools, as well as students in the surrounding area.
Kinard is a place where core values such as good judgment, best effort, respect, kindness, honesty, service, and citizenship are modeled, upheld, celebrated, and practiced in every part of school life. Kinard’s culture ensures that each student is physically and emotionally safe and has the opportunity to succeed academically.
The Kinard environment is such that each student is expected to learn at high levels, each student is supported, so he or she can learn at high levels, and each student demonstrates learning at high levels. The Core Knowledge curriculum provides access to the best knowledge available, including significant knowledge about diverse people and cultures.
Our teachers use research-based instructional strategies, collaboration, technology, and choice to enhance student engagement and achievement.
