Kruse Elementary opened in 1992 and is named in honor of Ray Kruse. Mr. Kruse served PSD as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and principal and comes to visit with our kids, staff, and parents. In 2014, Kruse was awarded the U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Award.
Kruse is a special place! Our strength lies in our well-educated and supportive parent community and dedicated professional staff. Our focus on literacy and math is balanced with learning about the arts, healthy lifestyles, and character education. We endeavor to foster a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
Our curriculum is aligned with Colorado and PSD content standards. While many parents and students find our academic program rigorous, our high expectations are balanced with tremendous levels of support and intervention where needed. We offer a complete continuum of services for students ranging from moderate cognitive needs special education to a variety of gifted-talented options, along with a counselor and PE, music, art, and computer lab teachers.
Kruse offers both full-day and half-day kindergarten programs, as well as a variety of before- and after-school child care options.
Instructional & enrichment programs
Our school is replete with opportunities for our students outside of their regular school day. We offer Boston Bounders, chime choir, chess club, Krusenart, Imagination Station, intramural sports, science fair, student art gallery, talent show, spirit and pride days, outdoor education, student council, spelling bee, book bowl, math club, Young Scholars, Odyssey of the Mind, Spanish classes, 5th-grade recognition ceremony, Mason’s outstanding student award, and Scouts.
Opportunities for parents
Students at Kruse receive extraordinary support from our exceptional parents, staff, and community. We welcome and encourage parents and community members to volunteer in our school. Our PTO and School Improvement Team are always looking for great additions!
